Treatment failure was evaluated in 2 US retrospective studies of >600K female outpatients treated empirically with an oral antibiotic for uUTI. Treatment failure was defined as any of the following occurring ≤28 days after the initial antibiotic was prescribed: a second oral antibiotic prescription, administration of an intravenous antibiotic, or a primary diagnosis of acute UTI in an emergency room or inpatient setting.3,4

There is more to discover about UTIs

    NARRATOR:

Urinary tract infections, or UTIs, are common.
But there is more to discover about UTI. Let’s refresh our knowledge.

Treatment failure to empiric therapy is estimated to occur in 12%-17% of women with uncomplicated UTI*

*2 retrospective cohort studies evaluated oral antibiotic treatment failure in US patients with uUTI. Treatment failure was defined as any of the following occurring ≤28 days after the date of empiric antibiotic therapy for uUTI: a second oral antibiotic prescription, administration of intravenous antibiotic, or a primary diagnosis of acute UTI in the emergency room or inpatient setting.

    NARRATOR:

Treatment failure to empiric therapy is estimated to occur in about 12 to 17% of women with uncomplicated UTI.
