Treatment failure was evaluated in 2 US retrospective studies of >600K female outpatients treated empirically with an oral antibiotic for uUTI. Treatment failure was defined as any of the following occurring ≤28 days after the initial antibiotic was prescribed: a second oral antibiotic prescription, administration of an intravenous antibiotic, or a primary diagnosis of acute UTI in an emergency room or inpatient setting.3,4
